-This could fall into the Hard category of difficulty if you are not
familiar with making a pie crust.
-It does require quite a bit of preparation.
-If you like to make pies, it is a good way to use up any extra pears.
Pie Crust:
Combine flour and salt. *Divide in half. Use half for streusel topping
mixture*
With second half, cut in butter and shortening with pastry cutter until
mixture resembles course cornmeal. Add 3-4Tbsp. ICE water and stir until
ball forms. Knead 2-3 times and chill 1 hour. Roll out.
Filling:
Mix brown sugar and flour. Add pear, lemon juice and peel. Put in pie
crust, top with streusel.
Streusel Topping:
1/2 dry ingredients from pie crust recipe
1/3 cup dark brown sugar
1/4 cup butter
Mix together and put on top of pie.
Bake 10mins at 450 and 45 mins at 350.
