This is my grandma's bread
pudding recipe. It calls for cold biscuits, but you can use any kind of
bread. Biscuits are really the best.
"Save the squeal" is what she would say. This saying referred to
butchering a pig. They would not let any part of the pig go to waste. You
saved everything but the squeal. So someone who was frugal to the extreme
would even "save the squeal."
Put milk over crumbs of biscuits. Let stand while you beat eggs. Mix cocoa and sugar; pour over crumb mixture, add vanilla, and bake at 350 until solid in the middle. Serve with ice cream or whipped topping.
