This is from the 1950s and is very, VERY rich.
Cream the butter and sugar together until
fluffy. Add
the eggs, pineapple and nuts. Mix well. Add fully crushed vanilla wafers.
Place in a 9X11 pan and place in the refrigerator for 24 hours. This may
be refrigerated for a shorter period of time but the longer, the better.
Serve with whipped cream if desired.
* Like many other things, vanilla wafers no longer come in 1 lb. packages
so be sure to buy two and make up the difference or it won't turn out
right.
** Since raw eggs are no longer considered safe, use pasteurized eggs or
an equal amount of the egg substitutes that are made from real eggs.
