WHOLE-WHEAT RAISIN BREAD

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup white flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups whole-wheat flour
  • 1/4 cup melted shortening
  • 1-1/2 cups sour milk or buttermilk
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 1 cup raisins

Directions

Mix white flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt and whole-wheat flour in a bowl. Add shortening, milk, brown sugar and molasses; stir until blended. Mix in raisins. Spoon into a greased loaf pan, and bake in a 375 oven for 45-50 minutes. Remove from pan and cool on rack.
