These are delicious balls of pure milk. The kids love to make them and snack on them. It is also a traditional Shavuot dish for my family.
Prepare simple syrup by heating water in a medium size pan. Add sugar and stir until sugar is melted. Add cinnamon and allspice to syrup and set aside to cool.
In a large bowl mix powdered milk, flour, and soda well. Stir in cardamon. Make a well in the center of the dry mix and slowly add the cream, pulling the dry ingredients into the well. Continue adding cream until a slightly stick dough is achieved.
With damp hands make walnut size balls and place on a cookie sheet covered with wax paper. Drop these balls into gently into hot ghee or peanut oil at aprox 350 degrees. Shake the basket a few times during frying. Adjust the heat as needed to cook for 5-7 minutes. They spin themselves over to cook evenly. They should be a dark golden brown.
Place cooked, drained balls into the prepared syrup and soak several hours or overnight. They will soak up the spiced syrup.
