CapJaxMathFax

I purchased this program at the local convention to help my kids drill their math facts.... I thought I would share it with you all.
This is a program
that helps kids learn their math facts (+ - x /) in 3 seconds or less. I
like the program because it keeps records of how they are doing, so I can
find holes in areas they may need extra help. It is also something they can
work on without me.... a big help considering I am schooling 3 children.
One of the key features is that kids know immediately if they are wrong.
.. therefore not "learning" a wrong answer and later having to "relearn" a
correct answer. To get a "super" score they have to get the answer in 3
seconds.... which sometimes is just a challenge in finding the right
computer keys.... but my kids are really enjoying it.... even my 7 year old.
.. she is so proud to get a Super score!! You can adjust the time of 3
seconds if you feel it's discouraging for your children, so far I have
chosen to leave it.... they are all doing fine.

The website allows you to try the program for free. I also believe you can
download it at the website after purchasing.... it's quite inexpensive and
so far I have found it to be a useful product, not just something I add to
the shelf of "good" products. My kids do daily drills and you can mix them
up however you like (meaning combining addition with subtraction or whatever
combination you like).

Here's a review I found when getting the link to share.

When his daughter came home from her public school third grade class still
using her fingers for addition, Jack (Cap'n Jack) Fretwell of Starboard
Training Systems knew something needed to be done. Flashcards did the job -
somewhat, but they weren't much fun. So, Jack called on his background in
computer programming and his Masters in Educational Technology to create
CapJaxMathFax.

This computer program is a wonderful mix of all the ingredients needed for
effective math facts retention: self-pacing with small steps, clear
objectives, instant positive reinforcement, obvious evidence of progress,
and detailed performance feedback. These important components cannot be
duplicated in any paper flashcards or timed written drills.

After installing the easy download of CapJaxMathFax, your child is ready to
test his knowledge of basic math facts. Each "player" signs into his own
custom area of the program, chooses one or more functions (i.e., addition,
subtraction, multiplication, and/or division), a beginning level, and
whether or not he would like to try to beat the "Super Seconds". We found
that there are just enough options to make CapJaxMathFax complete without
making it overwhelming for our children.

The instant positive reinforcement boosts your child's confidence, while the
"Summary" and "Details" areas allow you to keep track of his progress.
There is a hint provided if your child repeatedly misses the fact, but this
is done in a way that doesn't make your child feel bad for getting the
answer incorrect. In fact, CapJaxMathFax really makes your child feel good
about himself and his math facts accomplishments!

Available for download from www.capjax.com, CapJaxMathFax retails for $19.95
plus an additional $4.95 if you would like to have a CD mailed to you. If
you would like to try the program before you purchase it, you can download a
free trial version of the software.

In my opinion, your children of any age who need extra review in basic math
facts would love learning with Cap'n Jack. There will be no tears when you
say it's time for math facts review if you use CapJaxMathFax!

That sounds like a great program Barbra-Sue.
I will have to look at it and possible see about purchasing it. I would go ahead and buy the Cd so that I have that at my disposal whenever I might need it.

I think that the DC would love this as well - they love doing stuff on the computer and it makes it so easy on me to have them doing something educational yet fun while I consentrate on the other child.
