Hi ya'll, getting ready to go over letters H, I, and J. Got any suggestions?
Nancy, what do you have? You always have good stuff to share. |

Let me think on that one, Applie. I'm sure I can come up with something.
We stopped doing the EEAH book after I bought the LeapFrog DVDs mine picked up their letters and sounds quickly from those. The only trouble I have now is getting them to recognize lower case. |

I don't know if this has already been suggested, but . . .
When my daugher was learning her letters we made an alphabet book. We got a construction paper page for each letter and then pasted pictures we cut out of magazines that began with that letter. We also used family pictures ("M" is for Mama, that sort of thing). Her big brother did a lot of this with her - it was a good opportunity for me to get some housework done, and they had fun playing with the old magazines. Melanie |

I like to think of ways to show the difference between "house" and "home" for my kiddos. We also sing, "With Jesus in the family, happy, happy home..."
Brandon's big word right now is "idea" - as in, "I have an idea!" We use it as an opportunity to discuss imagination, and submission when Mommy says no. And of course, we teach J with Jesus! The story for their church this quarter just happens to be about young Jesus, so we talk a lot about being "just like Jesus." This letter combines, Bible, citizenship, and homelife. Hope this helps! |

In one of my books, Alphabet Art, they have you make a "Hairy H" by gluing pieces of yarn all over the letter H. For the letter I, there's the "Itchy Insect I" and you glue pieces of black pipe cleaners rolled into balls onto the letter I, then draw little legs on the insects. For J, it's the "Jeweled J", by gluing sequence all over the letter J. They also have the animal crafts to go along with each letter (Hummingbird, Inchworm, and Jellyfish).

That sounds like a very neat book. Will have to look for that one.
Thanks for the ideas. Plan to start letters with the twins soon. They know some. Have not worked completely with that. They are still struggling with colors and shapes. . .Baby Steps. . .baby Steps Car |
