They are a great way to teach etiquette and manners. My youngest loves it even if it is just me and her and our best china. It would be fun to include siblings or neighborhood friends. Also baking with mom is fun. Church choir or drama group our town has a local theatre group for children that is free as long as you help out with the production. Happy hunting..sounds you have quite a little girl there. flower3.gif

We picked up a little sewing kit at Hobby Lobby for Maddie. The kind where you sew with yarn and a big plastic needle to make something. She likes it.

Maybe she'd like paint by numbers or another craft kit.

Maddie isn't studying much else girlie right now, LOL. She's into dinosaurs and reptiles now! She also really likes geography and maps.

Since Ambyr is reading how about starting a series of books with her. Either something she can read on her own (I am hoping to get Maddie to read the Babysitter's Club Little Sisters on her own, we've read a couple together, but I think she can handle it. Or another series you feel are appropriate) or together. We are also just starting the Little House books.

I'll think on this and see if I think of anything else.

I thought of 2 more ideas overnight. One you might like, one you probably won't. laugh.gif

The one you probably won't like is pet care. Get her a hamster or something small. She can real all about how to care for it and then do most of the care herself. (see, I knew you wouldn't be keen on that one. laugh.gif )

The other one you might like more: studying how to tell time and how to work with money. If she isn't already doing so. Maddie has a workbook she really likes called "The Complete Book of Time and Money" (it is available through Amazon for $10.49, just saw it while ordering somethong else, or through other places too). There are lots of others too and websites, etc. She could do more "money" work by setting up pretend stores or garage sales or restaurants.

p.s. I really like the tea party suggestion too! There are lots of neat kids books on etiquette.

Well you can always join my postcard yahoo kids group. Pretty much any age kids have joined us. We have over 530 members now. I just had this one woman with her little one say she goes to Crayola site and print out the state flash cards they have there and has her kids color it and place it in a folder and she is making a scrapbook/notebooking what ever they are calling it each time a card comes in. Some hang on the wall, some put a huge state map up with pins in it each time it comes in etc..

My daughter has recently collected all 50 states and we are doing international now, its taken us 3yrs now to do this. Each year there is something new for her to do on different grade levels.

Postcarding helps with not only learning geography, but with spelling, writing, math, history, you name it....she can even get a same age pen pal too. The kids love to get postcards snail mail just for them. One woman says her kids attack the mail man each day haha..anyway the kids enjoy it and have tons of fun with it. Hope you can join us.
