Play Dough

Recipe Submitted by Anonymous ..|.. Category: Kid's Craft Recipes

This is very easy. It will look very gluggy and feel very slimy at first but once you knead it a little
on a hard, smooth surface, it will look and feel very soft, smooth extremely pliable.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups plain flour
  • 4 tablespoons cream of tartar
  • 2 tablespoons of oil
  • 1 cup of salt
  • 2 cups of water
  • food colour or vegetable dye.
  • (You can also add glitter, essence, sand anything you think of, I do this AFTER
  • the cooking, during the kneading)

Directions

Mix all the above ingredients (minus the glitter, you can add the essence in this step though)
in a saucepan, (it washes clean easily so you don't need a special one)
and stir continuously over a medium heat until the mixture congeals.
once it breaks away from the sides of the pot turn it out and knead it until smooth. (Careful it will be quite warm, and here is where I add the
glitter, or sand or anything else fun you can think of.)
It will keep for at least three months in an airtight container. (I use zip lock bags) In cooler climates, it can last a year or more!
