Applesauce and Cinnamon Ornaments

Recipe Submitted by mom-to-five ..|.. Category: Kid's Craft Recipes

This a simple recipe that the kids can have fun making.

Ingredients

  • 1-1pound jar of sweetened applesauce
  • 8 ounces ground cinnamon, or more if necessary

Directions

For best results drain applesauce overnight in a sieve to remove excess moisture.
Mix the cinnamon into the applesauce a little at a time until it reaches the consistency of cookie dough. Roll out the dough to 1/4 inch thickness on wax paper. Use cookie cutters to cut out the shapes you want.
If you are using them as ornaments, use a toothpick to poke a hole through the top of each ornament.
If you are using them to string as garland, poke a hole in the sides of each ornament. For instance if you make them into "cinnamon men" poke a hole into each of the hands.
Dry the ornaments in a warm place for a week turning them every day.
