Easy Cobbler

Ingredients

  • 1 cup self rising flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • dash salt
  • 1 stick butter (you can use margarine but the flavor is greatly enhanced by real butter)
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 drained fruit of your choosing

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Melt stick of butter in microwave. Pour into crock or deep baking dish.
In separate bowl mix flour, sugar and salt. Add the milk stirring well. I have found that a whisk works great. Add the vanilla extract, if desired. Pour the contents into the middle of the crock/dish with the melted butter allowing the contents to spread. *DO NOT STIR* There should be melted butter around the outside.
Gradually pour the fruit onto the mixture.
Bake for approximately 40 minutes or until top is golden brown.
*Optional - sprinkle with sugar when you take it out of oven.
Serve hot or cold. Serve hot topped with ice cream
Ideas:
Peaches, Apples, strawberries, blueberries, pineapple, cherries
*When I use apples as the fruit, I sprinkle cinnamon sugar on the top of the cobbler when I take it out of the oven.
