Carmel Apple Dump Cake

Recipe Submitted by Anonymous ..|.. Category: Cake

My family loves this. However, there is a slight problem I don't use or have not so far used exact measurements.

Ingredients

  • One package of caramel cake mix and either some apple
  • pie filling or apples you have cooked down with sugar and water and
  • spices.
  • You will need enough juice (or water) to absorb the caramel cake mix.

Directions

MOST IMPORTANT DO NOT MIX THE CAKE UP. THIS IS USED AS IS RIGHT OUT OF THE PACKAGE.
I use a 9x6 inch glass dish to bake this dish.
If using apple pie filling I add some water and my own spices to it and
stir it up really well. I use 1 T (you may want to use less) of allspice,
cinnamon and nutmeg. I'd say I add about 1/2 cup of water but I just
eyeball it not measuring anything exactly.
Pour the apple mix into the bottom of the dish and put the caramel DRY cake mix on top of it.
Take a stick of butter or more if you like and slice square pats of butter over the cake mix.
I bake it according to the directions on the cake mix box usually 350 for about 30 minutes.
NOTE: I check on the cake when the butter has had time to melt and if there is any place on the dry cake mix not wet by the butter then I put more butter on it and stick it back in the oven. This is great with vanilla ice cream. You can also do this with other cake mixes and fruits for example some canned peaches and some butter pecan cake mix.
