Planning

  • What I mean is: I find it difficult to plan that we're going to do XYZ on whatever day, because if something happens to prevent us from schooling (like today) then I feel like I need to "double up" the next day or am stressed about moving everything up a day. So, what do you do? Do you track everything "need to do" style or "what we did today" style? ...

  • First, I have just about finished my goals for each child for the school year and am wondering, how do I keep this from just becoming a bunch of papers stuck in the back of a notebook for the next year. In other words, how do I convert goals to lesson plans. Gee, I hope this makes sense. ... And when the house (laundry, home-cooked meals, etc.) was presentable school suffered.

  • Ok here I am again with my crazy questions. I have only been homeschooling for 3 years. The first year was hit and miss. I bought curriculum that planned everything for me. Didn't like it because it seemed way to structured. If we missed a day due to illness, we had to make it up as soon as possible and stay on track to complete by the end of our school year. • I was working on my daughter's portfolio last night and realized, I forgot to put her Pirate Lapbook together. So, we will be working on that this weekend. The other big problem that I see, is that she hasn't put the date on most of her work and now I can't remember when we did the pirate lesson. I'll have to look in my blog and see what day it was.

  • We are starting school tomorrow and I forgot to update the sections in the portfolios . I have already cleaned out the papers from last year, except my daughters' book. Listed below are the sections I will be putting in for this year. Just about the same as last years. The portfolio is a white 3", 3-ring binder. I put a portfolio cover sheet on the front and a spine cover as well. By the end of the year, it will be well packed .

  • Well, it is getting to be that time of year when we have our evaluations happy.gif . How is everyone doing with their portfolios? I have most of my daughters' done, but I still need to write down what we did. For some reason, I just don't like to do this and I wait until the last minute to write it down . Since I wait until the last minute, I'll just to a monthly journal type thing. I also hope for better organization for next year.

  • I'm really starting to get that "itch"! I don't know why exactly. I have about 90% of our texts already and I'm raring to get started. I'm one of these people who likes to have everything done WAY before I'm supposed too. LOL!
